This year we will be exploring artists through out the ages and their contemporary significance. The painting at the top of this page is called,STARRY NIGHT and is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh,a Post-Impressionist painter of the 19th century.
All students in grades 1-5 receive art instruction once a week in 45 minute sessions.
Starting this month and continuing through the Spring of this year, we will be concentrating on the work of several artists of different time periods. We will begin with Romare Bearden, an African American artist of the late 20th century. Bearden's main medium was collage which he used to express his political views. We will be creating collages and photomontages in honor of Romare Bearden and Black History Month.
After Mr. Bearden, we will be exploring the work of Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Leanardo Da Vinci, and Jackson Pollock. Look for art work around campus that represents work of these artists.
