Welcome to the Second Grade webpage! March 2010 In Like a Lion....Out Like a Lamb! PTA Walk-a-thon March 31st Early Release 12:15 SAT Info! Stanford testing is coming in March. Please encourage your child to get a good night sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and get to school on time! Stanford practice sheets will be coming home soon. We're learning to write in cursive! We are now working on writing capital letters! *School Policy: Birthday celebrations will be held during lunch.  A parent must be present during the child's lunch time to distribute cupcakes, etc. Would you drive to work with your gas gage on empty????   Of course not! So please don't send your children to our classrooms without a full tank of "brain fuel". Encourage your second grader to Rev Up their engines with a FREE breakfast here at school each day.    Regular vocabulary homework is suspended until after testing. Please look for SAT practice sheets instead. These are to be done at your own convenience, and will not be collected. Students should be utilizing Studyisland at home. Please let your teacher know if you do not have access to the internet. Friday folders will be distributed at the end of each week and include all information from the week, including upcoming events and the principal's newsletter. The folder must be signed by a parent and returned to school on Monday. Children should be reading for 20 minutes each night as part of the homework. A list of vocabulary words will go home on Monday and the students are responsible for learning the definitions of these words by Friday for a test.  They do not need to know how to spell them.  Reading, Writing, Math and Science homework will be given as needed. Please check your child's homework folder each night! Studyisland.com is a great resource for additional practice in the areas of reading and math.  Students can even log in from your home computer! Login information: Lunch number@bp                      Example:  123456@bp          Password: Birth month and birth year          NOTES TO PARENTS : Feel free to call or email any of the second grade teachers if you are interested in volunteering for a class project, reading with a student in need, or chaperoning a field trip.
